Pleated filter bags

A compact pleated surface for selected baghouse retrofits: shorter element, more area in the existing tube sheet and faster installation, subject to pulse, dust and geometry checks.

CRITICAL DISTINCTION

A pleated bag is not a standard cartridge

It fits a baghouse tube sheet and may use a snap band, flange, threaded bush or PU ends. High-temperature aramid, PPS and fibreglass variants in this category must therefore not be presented as standard air cartridges.

This site limits a standard cartridge filter to a maximum of 135 °C. The higher values below apply only to specifically engineered pleated bags and require a complete-assembly datasheet.

MEDIA

Temperature is confirmed for the complete assembly

The table gives category guidance, not universal ratings. Adhesive, end caps, gasket, cage, acids, alkalis, oxygen and hydrolysis can reduce the allowable duty.

APPLICABILITY CHECK

When a retrofit genuinely delivers value

A larger nominal area does not guarantee better performance: tightly packed pleats may clean poorly with sticky or coarse dust.

  1. 01Geometry

Tube-sheet opening, length, diameter, pitch and service space.

  2. 02Pulse

Pressure, volume, nozzle, venturi, duration and air dryness.

  3. 03Dust

Size, stickiness, moisture, abrasion, charge and loading.

  4. 04Aerodynamics

Area, velocity, ΔP, flow distribution and hopper discharge.

LIMITS

Where it works and where it does not fit

01Where it works
  • An existing tube sheet with limited element length — more area from a shorter bag
  • Dry abrasive dust and frequent cleaning — spunbond polyester
  • Fine, sticky or difficult-release dust — with a PTFE membrane
  • Hot dry dust, kilns and power — only a specifically engineered aramid, PPS or fibreglass assembly
02Where it does not fit
  • Without a check of tube sheet, pitch, pulse system and aerodynamics
  • Tightly packed pleats on sticky or coarse dust — they clean poorly
  • Temperature, acids, alkalis and hydrolysis not confirmed by the complete-assembly datasheet
  • Duties where a conventional long bag remains more reliable
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can every bag be replaced by a pleated element?

No. Tube sheet, pitch, pulse system, dust, temperature and aerodynamics must be checked. A conventional long bag may remain more reliable in some duties.

Why cannot 200 °C be applied to a standard cartridge?

Because it may be a fibre-only limit, while a standard cartridge is also limited by adhesive, end caps, cage and gasket. This site sets 135 °C as the maximum for a standard cartridge.

What is needed to make an equivalent?

A sample or drawing, media, temperature, chemistry, end dimensions, gasket, airflow direction and pulse-cleaning data.
