Selection by grade cascade, dust holding, dimensions, airflow and allowable pressure drop for AHUs and clean areas.
The first stage removes coarse dust, the intermediate stage protects the final filter and the final stage delivers the target cleanliness. The cascade is built so that the higher-value final stage does not take the coarse dust and does not reach its terminal pressure drop quickly.
Check the solution against total ΔP, dust holding, moisture, frames and fan capacity. G3–F9 identify legacy requirements; a new selection needs test evidence to the applicable ISO 16890 edition, and there is no universal direct conversion between grades.
Flat and pleated prefilters: coarse cleaning, coarse dust. Check dust holding, moisture and fire behaviour.

Look inside →G3–F9 labels help identify existing replacements, while project selection uses test data to the applicable ISO 16890 edition, airflow and ΔP.
Temperature and humidity are confirmed by the specific filter datasheet. A media limit must not be applied to the complete cell: frame, sealant, separator and gasket may impose a lower rating.
Width, height, depth, frame, number of pockets and gasket.
Airflow, temperature, humidity, outdoor or recirculated duty.
Grade, test report, allowable ΔP, final cleanliness and service life.
AHU model, fan, frames, number of stages and service access.
There is no universal conversion. G/F are legacy EN 779 grades; ISO ePM belongs to ISO 16890. Compare the product test report, airflow, initial and terminal ΔP, dimensions and the project requirement.
Pockets offer economical dust holding; V-bank cells provide high area and stable geometry in a compact depth. Space, moisture, ΔP and lifecycle cost decide.
Potential causes include excess airflow, a blocked stage, a weak frame, wetting, wrong orientation or missing support. Inspect both the aerodynamics and the installation.
When the final cleanliness and the process risk assessment require a high-efficiency final stage. HEPA must come with a verified class and installation leak-tightness control.
Why legacy grades cannot be mechanically converted to new ones and what a test report must show.
