GUIDE

Symptom → cause → check → action

Start with trends and measurements. Replacing an element without finding the root cause often gives only a short-lived result.

TROUBLESHOOTING MATRIX

Eight typical symptoms

The matrix covers baghouses and cartridge collectors, gas filters, gas turbines, filter presses, CEMS and water sensors.

Symptom
01 / 08High baghouse ΔP
Likely cause
Weak pulse, wet cake, high A/C or blocked discharge
First check
Gauge, pulse air, valves, hopper and dew point
Action
Remove the cause, restore cleaning, then assess the media
MEDIA

Signs of incorrectly selected media

Analyse the element and the duty history.

  • Rapid ageing
  • Shrinkage
  • Hydrolysis
  • Burn marks
  • Blinding
  • High residual ΔP
  • Poor cake release
  • Unstable emissions
PROCEDURE

How to start the diagnosis

  1. 01Trends and measurements

Collect the recent ΔP, emissions or filtrate data, the duty map and the process analysis; measure the points in the "first check" column.

  2. 02Documents

Attach the specification, datasheet, OEM reference, drawing, nameplate and mounting photos to the enquiry.

  3. 03Removing the cause

First correct the mechanical or duty cause: loading, cleaning, drainage, tightness; only then assess the media or the element.

  4. 04Upgrade

After auditing the housing, fan or pump, hydraulics, controls, site and actual duty, the media, compartments, pulse system, instrumentation, washing or membrane plates can be upgraded.
